Troubleshooting assistants

The sign-in window doesn’t open, or closes straight away

Section titled “The sign-in window doesn’t open, or closes straight away”
  • Allow pop-ups for your assistant’s site, then try connecting again.
  • Make sure the URL is exactly https://gathereasy.rsvp/api/mcp, with https and no extra slash or spaces.
  • If you use a custom authentication setting, switch it back to the default (OAuth, with no client ID or secret). GatherEasy registers your assistant automatically.

Your connection expires after 30 days, or it was disconnected. Reconnect from your assistant’s connector settings and choose Allow access again.

If you just signed out everywhere on the website, that doesn’t affect assistants. If you removed access from another assistant, reconnect.

The assistant says it isn’t allowed to do something

Section titled “The assistant says it isn’t allowed to do something”
  • “Insufficient scope” or a request to reconnect when using email: you connected without mail access, or before it existed. Disconnect GatherEasy in your assistant, connect again and keep the mail permission ticked.
  • “Forbidden”: your GatherEasy account doesn’t have permission for that, for example managing an event you’re not a host of, or a group’s payments when you’re not an owner or admin.

A feature is missing, or the assistant uses an old name for something

Section titled “A feature is missing, or the assistant uses an old name for something”

Your assistant may have cached GatherEasy’s tool list. Refresh it:

  • ChatGPT: open the app in Settings → Apps & Connectors and choose Refresh.
  • Claude: open Customize → Connectors, disconnect GatherEasy and connect it again.
  • Claude Code: run /mcp and reconnect, or restart Claude Code.
  • Other clients: restart the client or reload its MCP servers.

Not every assistant supports MCP Apps. You still get all the information as text. In Claude and ChatGPT, ask “open GatherEasy”. If the panel still doesn’t appear, start a new conversation.

“Too many requests” or “rate limit”

Section titled ““Too many requests” or “rate limit””

You’ve made more than 300 requests or 60 changes in a minute, or sent too much email in an hour. Wait a minute and try again.

“The database is temporarily unavailable”

Section titled ““The database is temporarily unavailable””

GatherEasy is briefly unavailable. Wait for the time the message gives, then try again.

Before trying again, ask the assistant to check, for example “is the event published?” or “did the announcement go out?”. An error can occasionally happen after the action went through. Checking first avoids duplicate events or messages.

I paid, but the assistant says my ticket is pending

Section titled “I paid, but the assistant says my ticket is pending”

Card and bank payments can take a moment to confirm. Ask again in a minute, or open the event page in GatherEasy. See Tickets and payment.

Contact support. Tell us which assistant you use, what you asked and the exact error message. Never include sign-in codes, passwords or email app passwords.
