Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to custom MCP servers through developer mode. It’s available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. On a workspace plan, an admin may need to allow it.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings.

  2. Find Developer mode and switch it on. Depending on your version it’s under Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings, or under Security and login.

  1. In Settings, open Apps & Connectors (called Apps or Plugins in some versions) and choose Create (or the + button).

  2. Fill in:

    • Name: GatherEasy
    • Description: Find events and venues, RSVP and manage my GatherEasy events
    • MCP server URL: https://gathereasy.rsvp/api/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  3. Confirm that you trust the app and choose Create.

  4. A GatherEasy window opens. Sign in and choose Allow access. See Sign-in and permissions.

Start a new chat, choose the + button in the message box and select Developer mode (or More → GatherEasy), then make sure GatherEasy is enabled for the conversation. Ask, for example: “Use GatherEasy to find a free event near me this Saturday.”

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before GatherEasy creates, changes or sends anything. Read each confirmation before you approve it.

ChatGPT keeps a copy of the app’s tool list. After a GatherEasy update, open the app’s settings in Apps & Connectors and choose Refresh to pick up new tools.
